The conceptual foundation for this structure can be found in Francisco J. Carrillo's paper "Managing Knowledge-based Value Systems" published in the Journal of Knowledge Management in 1998 (Vol. 1, Number 4, pp. 280-286). During 1998 this structure served as the basis for the development of core technologies at the CKS and ITESM's Graduate Curriculum in Knowledge Management. It is adopted as the basis of the of the KMCI-Institute curriculum.
